My Favorite Season

I had heard that the home and design blogs basically went wild for two full months before Christmas. I admit, though, I was still a little surprised when, right on November 1st, several of my regular reads busted out the yuletide cheer. I've never started Christmas decorations that early. Sure, I have ideas in the back of my head. Yes, I've already been compiling a Christmas Decor Idea folder of photos on my laptop, but I'm not actually ready to decorate for Christmas when we're still seven full weeks out.

This isn't because I don't like Christmas. I love all of the lights, the sparkle, the warmth. I think it's mostly just that Autumn is still my favorite season, and I like Thanksgiving so very much. I love reading books about the Pilgrims and Squanto to the children. I love spicy pumpkin pie smells and the promise of a huge, juicy turkey roasting. And I love the still pleasant days followed by crisp nights. Fall is just the best.

So, I'm not ready for Christmas yet. I'm still enjoying my favorite season :)

Thanks so much for your sweet comment on Layla's blog about my living room redo.

It's funny- I clicked to your blog when Layla mentioned you a bit ago, read a bunch.....and made a note to come back. Then I chuckled when I found myself here again!

I've enjoyed reading your posts, and totally agree with saving Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving & fall!!!

Will come back to see how the living room changes on your end go!

I enjoy reading your posts. If you are looking for good deals on flooring, go online rather than the home improvement store. I found hardwood flooring for my living room at http://www.floormall.com that was pretty reasonable. You can also get laminate flooring which can be done in a weekend and give your room a whole new look.

Thanks for the kind words, ladies, and the flooring tips, Michelle :) It's so hard to not run ahead of myself - there are about a million little projects we want to do all at once! "Patience, Patience" I tell myself. I will definitely keep the good ole' internet in mind when shopping for woods floors (down the line), though! Lumber Liquidators has a store room nearby, too.

Glad you all are enjoying the blog!

Warmly,
Jacci

I'm barely holding out in not decorating for Christmas! My husband's rule is that I have to wait until after Thanksgiving. I like fall too, but many of the colors I have used in our permanent decor are already kind of fall-y so I just put out a pumpkin and some cinnamon candles.

Thanks for your comments on the headbands. They are just so fun to make! I'm not sure how I would price them... After doing some comparison on etsy I was thinking $12? What do you think? I could always do special deals for people who read my blog :)

I agree on that fall is the best season, unless you live in the upper end of northern hemisphere -- in which case summer would become the best season I guess(just for its warmth). Anyways, I haven't seen much of Christmas decoration yet, but this morning, I encountered a salvation army kettle on street!! Here in NYC, I guess salvation army kettles signal the start of Christmas season.
