Baby

At least, I think that's what her blog name is going to be. I try to choose nicknames that we actually call the children, but a few just get used over and over with all of them. Very often, I'm calling someone Sweetie, Sweetheart, Darlin', or Love. But, most often, from ten and a half years old down to 6 weeks old, I'm calling them all Baby. And they'll all be Baby to me long past grown.

So. I think... just Baby.

She was a little squirt. 5 pounds 2 ounces at birth. And you know they always lose a little weight during those first few days. When we took these photos, she was at her smallest - 4 pounds 10 ounces.

I mentioned that she arrived 5 weeks early. Thankfully, she breathed well on her own and never had to go to the NICU at all. She spent some time in the transition nursery, getting her blood sugars stabilized, but then - at twelve hours old - she came in to be with me in my room. Tiny.

Tiny, but well :) They called the birth "precipitous". It was an adrenaline rush, for sure. I had a few complications before labor really started and Baby heard the OB talking induction. She decided she wanted to beat them to it. So, something got cranking somewhere and we went from 4cm to 10 in less than 30 minutes. Precipitous.

The nurse delivered our baby :)

But, despite a few scary moments in the 15 hours leading up to Baby's birth, all went well in the end. And we were very, very blessed to bring our little girl home with us when I was discharged 2 days later. She's been wonderful. Just wonderful. Baby may very well be my last little one, and I'm soaking up every minute. Tears of thankfulness and joy have not been uncommon. I'm blessed, guys. These children. This husband. This Savior. I'm just so, so blessed.

I mean, seriously. Look at her.

Love.
